Professor Schwartz focused on teaching and research in intellectual property law with a particular emphasis on empirical studies of patents. Before transitioning to academia in 2006, Professor Schwartz practiced intellectual property law, specializing in patents and patent litigation, after starting his career in 1995 as an associate at Jenner & Block. His areas of expertise include patents, intellectual property law, empirical legal studies, law and technology, and law and courts.
