Biography

David Sharp is Professor Emeritus at the Ivey Business School, specializing in Managerial Accounting Control. His academic journey took him from teaching at Boston College to working in the electrical engineering sector, followed by five years of teaching business studies in the Middle East. Sharp holds a Master's degree in Management from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and earned his Ph.D. in International Management from MIT Sloan School in 1987. His research interests focus on international management accounting and decision-making issues, especially cross-cultural differences in risky decision-making and the influence of control systems on promoting moral behavior within organizations. He teaches courses in Managerial Accounting Control and International Accounting for MBA and Executive MBA programs and is involved with the Strategic Marketing Management program. Sharp has published numerous scholarly articles in the fields of international financial management, cross-cultural behavior, and international business ethics. Additionally, he has served as a member of editorial boards for journals such as the Journal of International Accounting and the International Accounting Research journal and was an associate editor for Advances in International Accounting. Sharp is also an active member of the American Accounting Association, having served as president of its International Accounting Section during the years 2001-2002.
