Biography

David Simchi-Levi is the William Barton Rogers Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Systems at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he leads the MIT Data Science Lab. Recognized as a premier thought leader in supply chain management and business analytics, he has supervised numerous Ph.D. students who have secured faculty positions in prominent academic institutions including the University of California, Berkeley, and Carnegie Mellon University. He is a co-founder of several companies, including LogicTools and Opalytics, both of which significantly contributed to advancements in operations analytics before becoming part of larger corporations like IBM and Accenture. His educational background includes a B.S. from Technion, and both M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Tel-Aviv University. Simchi-Levi’s research interests encompass statistical learning, optimization, supply chain management, and decision support systems, along with a commitment to enhancing operational flexibility and risk management.
