David Simmons is a lecturer in the School of Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Glasgow. He has dedicated his academic career to researching visual perception. Since returning to the UK in 1995, Simmons has further broadened his research interests to encompass visual aesthetics, particularly the relationship between color and emotion, visual appearance, and the characterization of post-surgical facial scarring. He is currently focusing on perception concerning Autism Spectrum Disorders, which has led him to participate in sub-group committees for the Scottish Government's 'Scottish Strategy for Autism'. Additionally, he serves on the editorial boards of the journals 'Perception/i-Perception' and 'The Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders'.
