Dr. David Smith

Biography

David Romney Smith received his doctorate from the Centre for Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto, where his research was awarded a prize for his dissertation. He has published extensively on medieval trade and slavery, and has spoken at major professional venues across Canada, the United States, and Australia. Smith has also secured more than $100,000 in research grants. His expertise includes creating maps, graphics, and conceptual diagrams for his academic publications. Additionally, Smith is trained in traditional artistic media such as etching, relief printing, and fresco painting, which informs his interest in the history of visual expression. He has exhibited his etchings in Canada and Chile.
