David Spanswick graduated with a B.Sc from the University of East Anglia, UK in 1986. He obtained his PhD from the University of Birmingham, where he studied neurophysiology. Following this, he was a post-doctoral research fellow in Steve Logans' group in Birmingham before moving to Canada and then Japan, where he worked with Leo Renaud and collaborated with other researchers. In 2000, he joined the University of Warwick as a senior lecturer, eventually becoming a Professor of Molecular Neuroscience at Warwick Medical School in 2004. David arrived at the Department of Physiology at Monash University in October 2011. He has been involved in significant community service roles, including refereeing for several prestigious journals and serving as an external examiner for PhD programs at various universities. His teaching responsibilities at Monash include the course PHY3012: Integrative Neuroscience, where he contributes to advancing academic knowledge in the field.
