His recent studies have examined the population health impacts of behavioral patterns associated with tobacco product use, alongside regulatory science that aids in the evaluation of tobacco regulatory decisions. His work has evaluated the effects of graphic warning labels on tobacco use behavior and developed screening tools for identifying youth at risk of tobacco use. Strong also focuses on promoting behavioral tobacco treatment engagement in large healthcare systems using Electronic Health Records. Since arriving at UC San Diego a decade ago, he has collaborated with peers to create and assess behavioral treatments for adults overcoming obesity, taking into account necessary lifestyle changes.
