Professor Dr. David Stuart

Biography

David Stuart is a Professor of Structural Biology at Oxford University where he utilizes X-ray crystallography and X-ray microscopy to study the structural biology of viruses. His research focuses on understanding the molecular-level structures of these biological entities, which are considered attractive targets for study due to their relatively simple genomes and astonishing structural diversity. His work includes relating structure to function, benefiting from advances brought by X-ray crystallographic methods that allow for the detailed atomic-level description of complex structures. He is also responsible for the Infrared (IR) beamline at Diamond and shows particular interest in the proliferation of correlative microscopy techniques.
