David Taborda is a Reader in the Geotechnics section at Imperial College London's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, in 2004. After completing his PhD studies at Imperial on numerical modelling and dynamic soil behavior related to liquefaction phenomena, he joined the Geotechnical Consulting Group as a Geotechnical Engineer. There, he participated in various numerical simulation projects that involved soil-structure interaction. In August 2012, Taborda returned to Imperial College London as a Lecturer, where he focused on developing the Department's research in Energy Geotechnics. His work encompasses developing experimental techniques and numerical methods to analyze heat exchange and temperature effects in the ground, particularly regarding ground-source heating issues, such as open loops and thermo-active foundations. Taborda has also been a key contributor to the PISA project, which aims at advancing design methodologies for offshore wind turbine foundations. He actively supports applications from prospective PhD students for both departmental and college funding schemes.
