Biography

David Tarvin is an Instructional Professor and the Director of the Undergraduate Departmental Honors Program at Texas A&M University. He earned his Ph.D. in Communication from Louisiana State University in 2013. Since joining the Department of Communication & Journalism at Texas A&M University in 2014, he has focused on teaching courses such as public speaking, intercultural communication, and rhetorical theory. Dr. Tarvin has a strong advocacy for education abroad, leading field trips to Costa Rica and teaching faculty-led study abroad programs in Italy. He believes that studying abroad provides a high-impact, transformative experience that greatly influences an individual's understanding of the world. He has received several awards, including the Director’s Award for Outstanding Service to Honors Programs in 2023 and the Aggies Celebrate Teaching Award in 2020. Additionally, he holds memberships in Phi Kappa Phi Honors Society.
