Biography

David G. Taylor was born and raised in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, in Electrical Engineering. He has been a faculty member at the Georgia Institute of Technology since 1988 and is currently a full Professor. His teaching and research encompass the theory and application of control system design with an emphasis on electromechanics, electromobility, robotics, and sensing. His research interests include electromechanical systems, manufacturing machines, motion sensing and actuation, vehicle powertrains and charging, and automotive control systems. He has received several distinctions and awards, including the NSF Research Initiation Award and the NSF Presidential Young Investigator Award. Additionally, he is a Senior Member of IEEE and has chaired the American Control Conference.
