Dr. David Thornalley

Biography

Professor of Ocean Climate Science specializing in ocean circulation, marine ecosystems, and the role of climate change in the past, present, and future. He is the Deputy Director (Training Lead and Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Chair) for the London NERC Doctoral Training Partnership, overseeing more than 100 PhD students. His academic positions include appointments at University College London, where he has served as an adjunct scientist at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, reflecting a strong commitment to marine research and teaching. Thornalley's research focuses on the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation and its implications for climate change.
