Biography

David Turner is an Associate Professor at the School of Chemistry at Monash University. He previously held the Australian Research Council Future Fellowship and the Australian Institute of Nuclear Science & Engineering Research Fellowship, along with an Australian Research Council Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Appointed as a Senior Lecturer in 2016, he earned his PhD in Chemistry from King’s College London in 2004. His research interests lie in the fields of supramolecular coordination chemistry, focusing on the synthesis of chiral coordination polymers, metal-organic polyhedra, and enantiomeric separations. Additionally, David’s work involves using neutron diffraction to explore hydrogen-bonding networks and designing amine-based porous materials for gas capture and separation. His research group currently offers PhD projects that cover topics including chiral supramolecular cages, chiral coordination polymers, and crystal engineering. Beyond research, David actively contributes to community outreach, participating in initiatives such as the CSIRO 'Scientists in Schools' program and engaging with students through laboratory-based research projects. He has served as the President of the Victorian Branch of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and is currently the Secretary of the Society of Crystallographers Australia New Zealand.
