David van Doorn obtained his bachelor degree in animal husbandry from the School of Higher Agricultural Education in Delft in 1998. In 2000, he earned a master's degree in Animal Science from Wageningen University Research Centre. He began working part-time for a private equine feed and supplement company in 2001 while also starting his PhD project on “Equine Phosphorus Absorption and Excretion” within the Nutrition Department of Utrecht University, which he defended in 2003. Following this, he continued his involvement with the equine nutrition business until 2013 when he founded his own consultancy, Equivado/Anivado. In 2010, David took on a part-time role as assistant professor of equine nutrition at the Nutrition Department within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University, collaborating with the Centre of Animal Nutrition at Wageningen University. He has been involved in projects aimed at preserving equine veterinary patrimony at the Utrecht University Library. His current research interests include macro mineral absorption and digestibility markers of nutraceuticals. Future work within the Centre of Animal Nutrition will focus on feeding strategies for gastrointestinal health.
