Biography

David Vetrie is a Professor of Translational Leukaemia Genomics at the Paul O'Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre, University of Glasgow. His research focuses on gene regulation and normal haematopoietic development, addressing fundamental questions regarding the regulatory processes that control gene expression during human and mouse development. He employs state-of-the-art approaches to study these processes at genome-wide and specific gene loci levels. Other areas of interest include the transcriptional regulatory programmes that change during the development and treatment of leukaemia. He has led and participated in numerous research projects aimed at innovative therapeutic strategies and understanding mechanisms underlying leukaemic stem cell resilience in chronic myeloid leukaemia and acute myeloid leukaemia. Vetrie is involved in various grants and projects aimed at identifying biomarkers and understanding the genetic factors that inform the responsiveness to treatments and disease relapse.
