Biography

David Waite is a Senior Lecturer in Urban Studies and Social Policy at the University of Glasgow. He completed his undergraduate and initial postgraduate studies at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and later undertook doctoral research at the University of St Andrews. Prior to joining the University of Glasgow, he worked as a Research Associate at Cardiff University. David's research focuses on the development of second-tier city-regions and investigates the governance responses and production systems in these areas. He takes a multidisciplinary approach, incorporating elements of economic geography and heterodox economics, particularly critical realism. His interests extend to urban innovation and infrastructure, exploring policy arenas that promote inclusive growth agendas and balance environmental, social, and economic objectives. David also coordinates teaching related to Urban Economy and has contributed to various courses including Understanding Glasgow and Sustainable Urban Futures.
