Biography

David Wallace is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information with over 25 years in graduate-level education. Since 1997, he has explored various areas including recordkeeping accountability, archiving, archival social justice, freedom of information, and electronic records management. He has contributed significantly to the field through his initiative in editing key publications such as 'Archives, Recordkeeping & Social Justice' (2020) and a special issue of 'Archival Science' on 'Archives Ethics Memory Construction' (2011). His editorial work extends to 'Archives Public Good: Accountability Records Modern Society' (2002) and technical editing for the National Security Archive’s policy series from 1989-1992. Wallace has consulted with organizations such as the South African History Archive and the Kresge Foundation, and he was responsible for the University of Michigan School of Information's Global Information Engagement Program from 2015 to 2020. His research interests include the politics of recordmaking and recordkeeping, particularly how they construct and misconstruct historical narratives in the context of social justice.
