Biography

David held numerous international academic positions in Germany, the Far East, the United States, and the United Kingdom, along with an executive position in a customer satisfaction management consultancy firm in South Africa. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia. His research interests are varied, with a primary focus on regenerative business, planetary health, macro-marketing, marketing quality of life (QOL), self-determination theory, and the psychology of consumption and well-being. David serves on editorial boards and was awarded ‘Distinguished Research Fellow’ by the International Society for Quality of Life Studies (ISQOLS) in 2010 for his contributions to QOL research. He has played significant roles as the convenor of the UWA Modern Slavery Research Cluster and as the founder of the UWA Modern Slavery Network. His expertise includes sustainable consumption, applied business ethics, and consumer well-being. David’s current projects involve understanding self-determined behavior and its implications for sustainability. He aims to extend the conceptual framework of regenerative business as it relates to climate change and human well-being, ensuring meaningful collaborations with organizations regarding modern slavery, and exploring the dynamics of consumption and well-being through consumer education.
