Biography

Professor David Werring is a leading expert in Clinical Neurology, serving as an Honorary Consultant Neurologist at the Stroke Research Centre, UCL Institute of Neurology. He specializes in delivering hyperacute stroke care and leads a research program focused on intracerebral hemorrhage and cerebral small vessel disease. Professor Werring holds the position of Head of the Research Department of Brain Repair and Rehabilitation. He has chaired the Association of British Neurologists' Stroke Advisory Group and is the Stroke Specialty Lead for the NIHR North Thames Clinical Research Network. His editorial contributions include roles on the boards of the European Journal of Neurology, the European Stroke Journal, and Practical Neurology. In addition to his academic duties, he served as the Past-Chair of the UK Stroke Forum, the largest multidisciplinary event for stroke care professionals in the UK, and is the current President of the British Association of Stroke Physicians for the term 2024-2026. Professor Werring is also a Life Member of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, and has been appointed as an NIHR Senior Investigator in 2024.
