Professor Dave White holds a fractional role at the University of Western Australia as Shell EMI Professor of Offshore Geotechnics, alongside his position as Professor of Infrastructure Geotechnics at the University of Southampton in the UK. Since mid-2017, he has been based at UWA's Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems within the School of Civil, Environmental, and Mining Engineering. Previously, he was an ARC Future Fellow at UWA starting in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Australasian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, and the Institution of Engineers Australia, as well as the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK. He completed both his undergraduate (BA, MEng, 1998) and postgraduate (PhD, 2002) degrees at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on the mechanics of soils and foundations primarily in the offshore industry, having led numerous experimental and numerical studies into geotechnical mechanisms. His innovative research techniques include image analysis for deformation measurement and geotechnical centrifuge modelling. White has over 15 years of research experience, with findings disseminated through more than 300 publications and collaborations with leading industry entities. He has served on editorial boards and technical committees, further contributing to advancements in geotechnical engineering.
