David Yocum is a Professor of Practice at the Architecture College of Design, where he teaches advanced design studios for graduate-level students. His academic focus is on training students in critical design thinking, with a particular emphasis on the challenges in architecture related to the public realm. Yocum has been teaching at Georgia Tech since 2005 and previously served as the Paul Rudolph Visiting Critic at Auburn University. His current projects include academic buildings for the University System of Georgia, museum facilities, art galleries, corporate workplaces, and private residences. Yocum’s work has been recognized with several awards, including the 2017 Emerging Voices Award from the Architectural League of New York and the 2017 Georgia AIA Design Award for the Caddell Building.
