Dr. David Ziegler

Biography

Professor David Ziegler is a Conjoint Professor at the University of New South Wales and a Senior Staff Specialist at the Kids Cancer Centre, Sydney Children's Hospital. He has a specialized expertise in neuro-oncology and early phase clinical trials, particularly focused on childhood brain tumors. Professor Ziegler completed his clinical training in pediatric hematology oncology at Sydney Children’s Hospital and has also been a Fulbright Scholar at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, and Children’s Hospital Boston. His research is centered on the development of novel therapies for pediatric cancers and high-risk brain tumors. He has established a national translational research program aimed at developing innovative treatment options for children with cancer and has led numerous national and international early phase clinical trials. Professor Ziegler also chairs the national study of precision medicine for high-risk childhood cancers and is involved in the ZERO childhood cancer program, which emphasizes advancing novel treatments through collaborative efforts in both clinical and preclinical research.
