Biography

David Zuckerman holds an Endowed Professorship in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin. He received an A.B. in Mathematics from Harvard University in 1987 and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1991. Zuckerman was a postdoctoral fellow at MIT from 1991 to 1993 and at Hebrew University in the Fall of 1993. At the University of Texas, he has had visiting roles at U.C. Berkeley, Harvard University, and the Institute for Advanced Study. His research primarily focuses on pseudorandomness and its role in randomness in computing, and he has made significant contributions to topics such as coding theory, cryptography, and aspects of complexity theory. His work includes explicit constructions for randomness extractors and non-malleable codes, as well as pseudorandom generators for polynomial threshold functions. Zuckerman has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the field, including being named an ACM Fellow and earning the John S. Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship.
