Davide Amato is an Associate Professor in the Department of Aeronautics at Imperial College London, where he leads the Computational Astrodynamics (COAST) research group. Before joining Imperial, he was a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Arizona and later at the Colorado Center for Astrodynamics Research at the University of Colorado Boulder. He completed his doctoral studies at the Technical University of Madrid in 2017 as an Early Stage Researcher for the Stardust Marie Curie Initial Training Network. He obtained his MSc in Aerospace Engineering in 2013 and BSc in 2009 from the University of Naples 'Federico II' in Italy. His research area focuses on astrodynamics, developing advanced computational methods to enhance the understanding and prediction of space activities. His work addresses challenges in space situational awareness, contributing to safety, security, and sustainability in space operations by preventing potential hazards such as in-space collisions. His methods enable robust estimation, inference, and prediction of satellite dynamics and observations while utilizing advanced applied mathematics concepts. He is currently offering President's PhD scholarships for outstanding students interested in research in computational astrodynamics for entry in 2026.
