Biography

Professor Brambilla graduated from the University of Milano-Bicocca, Italy, in 2008. After completing a Master's in Biotechnology, he obtained his PhD in pharmaceutical technologies from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Paris under the supervision of Professor Patrick Couvreur, focusing on the design of polymer nanoparticles for various biomedical applications. In 2012, he joined the department of chemistry and applied biosciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) where, after three years as a postdoctoral researcher, he was promoted to group leader in 2015. In 2017, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Montreal, where he established his research laboratory at the interface of biotechnology, materials science, and pharmaceutical sciences dedicated to developing innovative drug delivery tools based on micro and nanotechnologies, alongside non-invasive diagnostic devices. He is a Junior Research Scholar of the FRQS, holds the Canada Generic Drug and Biosimilars Association Chair in Biotherapy, and serves as secretary for the Canadian section of the Controlled Release Society.
