Biography

Before joining UCL School of Management, Professor Ravasi held positions at Cass Business School, London, and Bocconi University, Milano, where he received a PhD in Business Administration and Management. He is a Distinguished Visiting Professor at Aalto School of Business, Helsinki, and has been a visiting professor at institutions such as Rotterdam School of Management, Copenhagen Business School, and the University of Lugano. His editorial experience includes serving as Associate Editor for the Journal of Management Studies and being part of the editorial boards for several prestigious journals including the Academy of Management Journal and Academy of Management Review. Professor Ravasi’s research primarily explores the interrelations between organizational identity, culture, and strategy change. Notably, he employs case studies to analyze how claims around 'who we are' can influence strategic action within organizations and how history and cultural memory impact these processes. He has investigated the role of design in facilitating strategic change and innovation, and more recently, he has focused on the use of corporate museums and archives as resources for innovation. His work has been published in top-tier journals, and he has co-edited important publications, such as the Oxford Handbook of Organizational Identity. Professor Ravasi is also engaged in multiple research projects examining the dynamics of identity and culture in organizational contexts.
