Biography

Davis Patterson, PhD, is a sociologist and Research Professor at the University of Washington (UW) in the Department of Family Medicine, located in Seattle, Washington. He serves as a senior advisor and director at the WWAMI Rural Health Research Center, and is an investigator at the UW Center for Health Workforce Studies. His research is primarily focused on informing policies that improve healthcare access for rural and under-resourced populations. He examines the health workforce and studies the educational pathways that prepare, recruit, and retain healthcare practitioners, as well as innovative workforce models aimed at achieving health equity. In addition to his academic endeavors, Patterson is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer from Belize, an avid traveler, and is fluent in Spanish.
