Biography

Dawit Kumilachew Yi is a pharmacist who completed his Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia in 2015 and earned his MSc in 2018 from Jimma University, Ethiopia. With over six years of academic experience at the University of Gondar, Dawit has served as an assistant lecturer and assistant professor. During his time there, he actively participated in various academic and extracurricular activities, including curriculum development, serving on the human research ethics committee, research supervision, and community engagement initiatives. His primary research interests encompass medicines use evaluation, optimization of medicines use, and pharmacy practice. Currently, he is a recipient of the University of Western Australia's international fee scholarship and postgraduate award, where he conducts his Ph.D. project focused on optimizing medicines for older adults by identifying healthcare system-related factors. His notable academic contributions include research in areas related to quality use of medicines, polypharmacy, and deprescribing.
