Biography

Dawn Michelle Baunach is currently serving as the Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Education Faculty Development at Georgia Tech. Baunach previously held the position of Interim Associate Dean for Faculty/Student Development and Strategic Initiatives at Kennesaw State University, during which she established the Diversity Council and the Makerspace Advisory Board. Her focus is on faculty affairs and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Before joining Kennesaw, she spent 20 years at Georgia State University in the Department of Sociology, where she led the Sociology Doctoral Program, significantly increased graduate enrollments, and improved funding for students. Her academic research is grounded in a structural standpoint, employing quantitative techniques to explore issues of gender-based labor market inequalities, wage differentials, and sexualities-based biases. She co-edited the widely cited “Sex Matters: Sexuality and Society Reader.” Baunach has served in leadership roles within the American Sociological Association and has numerous awards recognizing her contributions to diversity and inclusion in academia.
