Biography

Dawn Rault is a Lecturer in the School of Criminology at Simon Fraser University. Prior to her appointment at Simon Fraser University, she taught in the Law Society program at the University of Calgary and the Justice Studies program at Mount Royal University. Her teaching focuses on assisting undergraduate learners in navigating the complexities of the Canadian criminal justice system with care and compassion. Rault earned her doctorate in Population Public Health from the University of Calgary, where she was a member of the human-animal studies and one-health promotion team at the Cumming School of Medicine. Her current research examines the work of officers enforcing animal laws and explores novel approaches to promoting health in multi-species families and communities. Rault is particularly interested in how animals are interwoven into social and legal systems, highlighting the critical intersections of animal law, enforcement, and population public health.
