Biography

Dawn Trussell is a Professor in the Department of Sport Management at Brock University, where her research focuses on issues of equity and social justice in relation to sport policy and governance using qualitative methodologies. Her recent projects have concentrated on community, regional, and provincial sport organizations, emphasizing the understanding of diverse identities such as gender, disability, race, and sexuality. Trussell has received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and Sport Canada’s Research Initiative, and has served on several committees, including as the President of the Canadian Association for Leisure Studies. She is the recipient of the Chancellor’s Chair for Research Excellence (2021-2024) for her work on allyship and activism in sport, where she collaborates with graduate students in the Sport, Allyship, Inclusion Lab (SAIL).
