Biography

Dayong Gao is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Washington and an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Bioengineering. He serves as the Director of the Center for Cryo-Biomedical Engineering and Artificial Organs. His research primarily focuses on cryo-biomedical engineering and fundamental cryobiology, investigating mechanisms critical to cryoinjury and cryoprotection in living biomaterials at low temperatures. He is a recognized leader in cryobiology and cryo-biomedical engineering, having been elected to serve in various leadership roles including President of the Society for Cryobiology. He also collaborates internationally on various projects aimed at advancing cryopreservation technology and artificial organs.
