De-Tong Jiang received his PhD in Condensed Matter Physics from Simon Fraser University in 1991. He held a position as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada at Western University from 1991 to 1994. Subsequently, he worked as a Research Associate at Simon Fraser University and was a Beamline Scientist at Argonne National Laboratory in Chicago, before becoming an Adjunct Professor and Staff Scientist at the University of Saskatchewan. In 2005, he joined the Department of Physics at the University of Guelph as an Associate Professor. His research focuses on synchrotron radiation-based techniques to study the atomic and molecular structures of materials, particularly organic semiconductor films. Key research projects include polarization-dependent NEXAFS studies, gas-phase NEXAFS of polyaromatic molecules, and studies on epitaxial growth mechanisms. Jiang also collaborates with several groups on studies of materials under extreme conditions and the structural properties of nickel silicide thin films for nanoscale electronic applications. His work is well-funded and recognized both nationally and internationally, with memberships in various scientific societies and editorial boards.
