Biography

Deanna Chaukos is an Assistant Professor and Clinician Teacher at the University of Toronto's Department of Psychiatry. She is a consultation/liaison psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital. Dr. Chaukos has clinical expertise in providing psychiatric care in medical settings, with an emphasis on geriatrics and HIV psychiatry. Her research interests include medical education, curriculum development, program evaluation, physician wellbeing, and the learning environment. Currently, her research focuses on educational interventions for HIV Psychiatry residents and community AIDs Service Organization workers, aiming to bridge the gaps between community-based and hospital-based HIV mental health care for populations dealing with complex issues related to HIV, substance use disorders, and mental illness, which she also integrates into her teaching for trainees.
