Debarghya Mukherjee is an Assistant Professor at Boston University in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics as well as the Center for Data Science. He obtained his Ph.D. under the supervision of Professors Moulinath Banerjee and Ya’acov Ritov at the Department of Statistics at the University of Michigan. Before joining Boston University in Fall 2023, he spent a year as a post-doctoral fellow at Princeton University under the mentorship of Professor Jianqing Fan. His research interests are diverse and encompass the analysis of complex statistical models, particularly in high-dimensional settings. He explores the geometry of problems that become particularly relevant in these high dimensions, working on independent data settings and beginning to investigate models that capture data dependency, such as those involving spatial and temporal dependence with mixing conditions. Additionally, he actively researches algorithmic fairness, domain adaptation, and domain generalization, with the aim of developing methodologies for optimal knowledge transfer across domains while preserving fairness.
