Biography

Debora Sijacki is a Professor of Astrophysics at the Institute of Astronomy, University of Cambridge. Her research focuses on the formation and evolution of cosmic structures, including small mass galaxies, massive galaxy clusters, and the present-day Universe. She is particularly interested in structure formation, which encompasses a wide variety of physical phenomena occurring over vast scales. The complexity of these processes presents significant challenges for theoretical modeling. Prof. Sijacki develops novel numerical models to follow the self-consistent formation and growth of cosmic structures, accounting for major components such as dark energy, dark matter, and baryons. Her primary focus is on hydrodynamical modeling of important astrophysical phenomena, especially active galactic nuclei, which help in understanding the influence on the formation, growth, and morphology of galaxies.
