Dr. Deborah Brennan

Biography

Deborah Brennan is one of Australia’s leading researchers in comparative welfare, family policy, and gender politics. She has held distinguished visiting positions at institutions such as the London School of Economics, Oxford University, Trinity College Dublin, and the University of Melbourne. Deborah is the author of 'Politics Australian Child Care' (Cambridge University Press, 1998) and co-editor of 'No Fit Place for Women' (New South Wales, 2006). Her scholarly contributions include numerous articles in the fields of gender, politics, and family policy. She has advised both Australian and UK governments on policies that impact families and children. Additionally, Deborah has played a pivotal role in professional associations, being the inaugural convenor of the National Association Community Based Children's Services (NABCBS) and president of the Australian Political Science Association. She is actively involved in several international research networks and serves on editorial boards for various journals. Currently, Deborah provides higher degree supervision for students, specifically welcoming candidates interested in social policy, child care, and comparative social policy.
