Biography

Debbie Jones is a clinical professor at the School of Optometry and Vision Science and a lead clinical scientist at the Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE), University of Waterloo. Her main clinical focus is on pediatric optometry, and her research primarily revolves around myopia control. Debbie has a keen interest in addressing the eyecare needs of Indigenous peoples and has provided eyecare services to remote communities in Northern Ontario on numerous occasions. Trained in the United Kingdom, she has been a faculty member at the School of Optometry and Vision Science since 1998. Debbie was formerly a partner in an award-winning private practice in the UK and has published articles in various optometric journals and presented at optometric conferences worldwide. She is a fellow of the British College of Optometrists, the British Contact Lens Association, and the American Academy of Optometry.
