Dr. Deborah Levine

Biography

Dr. Deborah Jo Levine is a board-certified pulmonologist specializing in lung transplantation and pulmonary hypertension. She is a clinical professor of medicine in the Department of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at Stanford University and serves as the director of lung transplant outreach at Stanford Health Care. Dr. Levine's internationally recognized work includes instrumental contributions to the development of global guidelines for defining, diagnosing, and managing antibody-mediated rejection in lung transplantation. Her research focuses on lung allograft monitoring and risk assessment, particularly using donor-derived cell-free DNA techniques, an innovation pioneered by Stanford Medicine. She has received National Institutes of Health funding as a clinical investigator and co-chairs the ALAMO Study, a national registry in this field. An accomplished educator and researcher, Dr. Levine has authored numerous abstracts, presentations, and peer-reviewed articles, as well as books and book chapters on pulmonary hypertension and interstitial lung disease. She is the editor-in-chief of 'Advances in Pulmonary Hypertension' and has served on the editorial boards of several journals, including the 'Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation.'
