Dr. Deborah Marriott

Biography

Professor Deborah JE Marriott graduated from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in Medicine (Honours Class 1) and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (Honours Class 1). She obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 1985 and Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) in 1986. Her specialization is in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. She holds the position of Conjoint Professor at UNSW St Vincent's Clinical School and has served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology, Sydney. Throughout her career at St. Vincent's Hospital, Professor Marriott has developed expertise in infections in immunocompromised hosts, therapeutic drug monitoring, and antimicrobial agents. She has been heavily involved in undergraduate and postgraduate training, particularly with Rural Clinical Schools. Additionally, she is a foundation member and past president of the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine and serves on the NSW State Tuberculosis Advisory Committee. She is currently the chairperson of the Australian New Zealand Mycoses Interest Group and is a committed committee member of the International Society for Therapeutic Drug Monitoring and Toxicology as well as the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation.
