Dr. Deborah Nas

Biography

Deborah Nas is a Professor of Strategic Design Technology-based Innovation at the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at Delft University of Technology. She operates at the intersection of technology, business, and psychology, particularly focusing on consumer behavior regarding technological innovations. Deborah has developed a new design methodology that enables students and professional innovators to identify hidden opportunities at the nexus of technology and the business world. Her toolkit, 'Tech Design Strategies,' assists innovators in designing technology adoption processes, leading to successful tech products. At TU Delft, she is engaged in teaching courses related to strategic design and technology-based innovation and has contributed to the development of the faculty's new bachelor program. She plays a key role in the TU Delft Dream Hall steering committee, where ambitious student teams tackle complex projects, such as developing a hydrogen boat and exploring concepts like hyperloop and exoskeletons. Deborah also drives university-wide initiatives, focusing on the societal impact of quantum internet and computers. As a graduate of the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering at TU Delft, she began her career at Philips KPN and later co-founded and led a strategic innovation agency for 16 years. Today, she serves as a sparring partner for senior management teams looking to future-proof their organizations and is a well-known keynote speaker at various events.
