She has previously conducted research in signed language linguistics and syntactic sociolinguistic perspectives, examining cryptic crosswords and referential peculiarity in humorous utterances. Her recent work includes a focus on socially critical stand-up comedy. Some of her recent publications include 'Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: An Alternate History of Stand-Up' (2021, co-authored with Marc Mierowsky), 'Public Conscience and “The Chosen People”: Sarah Silverman and the Wake of Lenny Bruce' (2017), and 'Obscenity, Dirtiness, and License in Jewish Comedy' (2014/2020) in the journal Comedy Studies.
