Dr. Debra Nousek

Biography

Debra L. Nousek is an Associate Professor in the Department of Classical Studies at Western University. She earned her BA from the University of Alberta, an MA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a PhD from Rutgers University. Her research interests include Roman republican history, Greek and Latin historiography, Greek oratory, and numismatics. Nousek has been involved in significant academic projects such as editing 'The Commentarii' for the Cambridge Companion to Caesar and has authored various scholarly articles and books, including 'A Caesar Workbook', co-authored with Rose Williams. She has presented her research at numerous conferences, focusing on topics such as Caesar’s prose writings and historical narratives within Roman history. Nousek’s academic contributions extend to presentations on subjects including the intervening years of Roman history and the influences of literary figures on ancient rhetoric. Her work emphasizes the interplay of historical context and literary analysis, making her a vital contributor to the field of classical studies.
