Dr. Debra Satz

Biography

Debra Satz is the Vernon R. Lysbeth Warren Anderson Dean and a Professor in the Philosophy Department at Stanford University. She has held several administrative and academic positions, including Senior Associate Dean for Humanities and Arts and Faculty Director of the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society. Satz's research interests lie at the intersection of political philosophy, ethics, and economic equality. She has received numerous accolades, including an Honorary Fellowship from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and an Honorary Doctorate from Erasmus University in the Netherlands. With a wealth of experience, she has contributed significantly to various committees and initiatives focused on enhancing educational opportunities and addressing social issues. Additionally, Satz has served as a Professor by courtesy in Political Science and has extensive teaching experience at institutions including Harvard University. Her commitment to mentorship and curriculum development is evident through her roles in numerous educational programs and as an advisor to undergraduate honors theses.
