Biography

Professor French received SB degrees in Physics and Earth Atmospheric Planetary Sciences in 2011 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Arizona in 2017. He was a Hubble Postdoctoral Fellow at the Carnegie Observatories in Pasadena, California. Professor French joined the faculty at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2020. His research primarily focuses on using multi-wavelength observations to study how galaxies evolve over time and how they co-evolve with supermassive black holes. He is affiliated with both the Department of Astronomy and the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA).
