Dr. Declan Barry

Biography

Declan Barry is a licensed clinical psychologist and Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Child Study Center at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Research Director at APT Foundation, a community-based organization that addresses opioid use disorder in Southern New England. Declan is the Founding Director of the APT Foundation Pain Treatment Services, where he leads an interdisciplinary treatment clinic focused on chronic pain and opioid use disorder using cognitive-behavioral therapy and other health approaches. He has trained numerous fellows and interns in various fields, emphasizing interdisciplinary treatment methods. His research is primarily focused on developing and evaluating treatments for co-occurring opioid use disorder and chronic pain, analyzing the sociocultural, psychological, and biological factors influencing pain and addiction treatment. Declan has authored over a hundred peer-reviewed articles and is involved in multiple NIH-funded studies. He also holds editorial positions in scholarly journals related to his field.
