Dr. Declan O Regan

Biography

Declan O'Regan is a Professor at Imperial College London with a focus on Imaging Sciences. He leads the Computational Cardiac Imaging Group at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences, where his research explores the mechanisms underlying heart disease through the application of machine learning and data science techniques. His group is dedicated to capturing complex traits of the heart across diverse populations and discovering the genetic and environmental determinants of health. Declan's work aims to understand the mechanisms that drive the diversity of heart disease and how new technologies can be harnessed to make patient-specific decisions, predict future clinical states, and uncover fundamental mechanisms driving the transition from health to disease. He has received several prestigious awards including the Roentgen Travelling Professorship and the Rohan Williams Travelling Professorship, reflecting his significant contributions to the field. Declan joined the LMS to combine his clinical imaging research with data science and machine learning, benefiting from the institute’s state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative environment for translational research.
