Dr. Deepa Camenga

Biography

Deepa Camenga is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine, with expertise in pediatrics and addiction medicine, focusing on adolescent addiction. Her research aims to improve the identification and treatment of substance use disorders in youth within pediatric settings. As the Associate Director of Pediatric Programs at Yale's Program in Addiction Medicine, Dr. Camenga plays a vital role in supporting clinicians who prescribe medication to treat adolescents with opioid use disorder. She leads an innovative tele-consult service, working with local school-based health centers to facilitate treatment for adolescents and young adults. Since 2017, she has served on the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Substance Use Prevention, advocating for the health and well-being of children and adolescents nationwide. Dr. Camenga completed her medical education and residency training at the University of Rochester and a fellowship in health services research through the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Clinical Scholars Program at Yale. She is recognized as a national expert in pediatric addiction medicine, actively contributing to research focused on reducing the morbidity and mortality associated with adolescent substance use. Additionally, she has developed clinical programs and is involved in exploring novel technology-enhanced interventions aimed at reducing substance use in adolescents and young adults.
