Dr. Deepak Rajagopal

Biography

Deepak Rajagopal is a Professor at the Institute of the Environment and Sustainability at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he conducts research focusing on life cycle assessment, industrial ecology, and agricultural economics policy. He serves as the Director of the Leadership Sustainability Certificate Program at UCLA and has a rich academic background with a Ph.D. in Energy Resources from UC Berkeley and a Master's degree in Agricultural Resource Economics from UC Berkeley. Additionally, he holds a Master's in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, India. His ongoing research includes the assessment of electric vehicles, ride-sourcing applications, and public transportation solutions in developing countries. He emphasizes the importance of life cycle assessment in evaluating the sustainability of energy systems and frequently collaborates on projects aimed at enhancing sustainability in various sectors, including transportation and agriculture. Beyond research, he is involved in undergraduate mentoring and aims to influence policy-making through his academic work and outreach.
