Biography

Deepakraj M Divan is a Professor Emeritus at the Georgia Institute of Technology, holding the John E Pippin Chair and serving as a GRA Eminent Scholar. He is the director of the Center for Distributed Energy since its establishment in 2004. With a research focus on power electronics, power systems, smart grids, and distributed control of power systems, he is actively involved in both research and entrepreneurship. He has a strong background in academia and industry, specializing in innovative technologies aimed at enhancing grid control. In addition to his academic roles, he is a founder of Varentec and has held significant positions including Chief Scientist and President. His contributions have been recognized through election to the National Academy of Engineering and numerous awards including the IEEE William E Newell Field Medal. With over 40 years of experience, he has published 400 refereed articles, boasts 65 issued and pending patents, and has helped raise substantial venture funding for various new ventures. He received his B.Tech from IIT Kanpur and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Calgary, Canada.
